Bounty Hunter QD2GWP Quick Draw II Metal Detector Review – Pros & cons
Pros
The notch filters on the Bounty Hunter QD2GWP Quick Draw II metal detector accurately filter out unwanted metals. You can hear distinctive tones for different types of metals, allowing you to skip over and not waste time digging up junk.
Several customers are happy with the ease of use of this device, though you will want to read the instructions first before using it, as you should with all metal detectors. In addition, this detector is lightweight, making it suitable for use by children as well.
The LCD screen, which is a feature not typically found on lower-end metal detectors, is helpful in identifying the type of metal detected. The depth readout is good for getting an estimate of how deep underground the metal is.
This unit has received mostly favorable reviews from customers on Amazon.com. The following are snippets from just a couple of them:
“…Complete with easy to read instructions, a carry bag and an excellent handheld pinpointer you’ll be amazed at how simple this complicated looking detector really is to use. For the money this is worth every cent spent…(continued)”
“…I basically set it to find all metals and it does just that – so be careful what you ask for…have found coins, nails, bottle caps, property stakes, an earing, some keys, in hard pack summer grass field to gravel driveway to sandy beach…(continued)”
The following is a customer video demo and review of the metal detector.
Cons
Though the coil is waterproof, the main computer module of the Bounty Hunter Quick Draw 2 metal detector is not, so you should probably stay away from deep water anyway. Some customers report getting false readings when using this metal detector near water or on wet sand.
In spite of this, though, some customers did manage to use it successfully on beaches, as the following customer testimonial snippet mentions:
“…Took it to the beach and was satisfied. In the dry sand, it performed very well (get a good heavy-duty sand scooper for the beach). However, when used too close to the water or in wet sand, the detector gives off numerous false readings as the sodium in the water drives it crazy. To adjust, I turned the sensitivity almost all the way down and was able to use the detector…(continued)”
Bounty Hunter QD2GWP Quick Draw II Metal Detector Review – The Bottomline
If you are looking for an affordable, good quality metal detector with a handy LCD screen for use mainly on dry land instead of on the beach near the water, the Bounty Hunter Quick Draw metal detector is a good option.
